Summer in February

My mother, Daphne Neville, who worked on the crew of  Swallows & Amazons (1974) is appearing in Summer in February, which is now out on DVD. Although she’s a hustler, invitations to take part in both films arrived out of the blue. Here she is 40 years on  with Dan Stevens and Dominic Cooper ~

Swallows and Amazons is very popular at the moment (good news for all us AR fans) – I have just noticed it is also this year’s Christmas production at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick! (This is great, as we like to stay in Keswick over the new year and a trip to the theatre is a family treat. Last year’s show was The Railway Children, which was splendid!)

  2. Yes, I’ve been advertising the Theatre by the Lake Production on my S&A page. I look forward to seeing the dramatization of ‘Winter Holiday’ on the stage. It would make a great Christmas show.

I agree – I would love to see that. I would also like to see a version (film or stage) of Pigeon Post, which was my favourite S&A Lakeland sequel (complete with the villainous “Squashy Hat”!)

    • Ahh – you’d have to write to Nick Barton at Harbour with that request. He has currently the Film and TV rights to all the books. I am not sure about theater rights, bu the ART would know, I expect.
