  1. Thank you for the ‘heads-up’ about the release date – I’ll definitely be buying it for Christmas!

We had a family outing to see it at the Alhambra in Keswick in August and thoroughly enjoyed it (we were all waiting for your appearance at the railway station!). It’s not exactly close to the book, of course… but it captures something of the spirit and the locations (as always) are fantastic. Needless to say, the 1974 film will always be the definitive version for us, but the new one will be a worthy addition to the collection!

    • So glad to hear you saw the film on the big screen. What was the audience like?

      • It was the last week of the school holidays, so it was mainly comprised of families, plus a few older folk. The Alhambra is a great cinema, especially to watch a film like that – although it has been modernised, with comfy seats and a big screen etc., it still has an old fashioned feel to it!

  2. Actually, if you go to the Alhambra website and click on the ‘Pictures’ link, there are a few photos from your S&A film too!
