A book always makes a good Christmas present. Last year, items in the Authors and Illustrators’ auction, raised a total of £24,061 for BBC Children in Need. This year Children in Read has already exceeded this amount and there are four days left to bid.
This annual online charity fundraiser is organised by Children in Read through Jumblebee. co.uk. Taking part is great fun and offers authors a bit of publicity whilst presenting readers with the opportunity to buy a signed and dedicated book or illustration.
Lot 315 – is for a signed copy of ‘The Making of Swallows and Amazons (1974)’
The money goes directly to the charity – and the bidding is currently less than the retail price for a book that makes a great Christmas present.
