HAPPY NEW YEAR Sophie x
Thank you. Hoping for great things this coming year.
Yes agree let’s hope for a great 2026 x
Happy New Year Sophie/Titty! I love this!!!
So glad! It’s an old one, but I’m off to Africa soon.
Thanks, Sophie, and same to you.
The new year has begun with a clear sunny day, which helps enormously. I hope 2026 goes well for you.
Happy New Year to you too!
Thanks so much. I hope the year ahead goes well for you.
Thank you and Happy New Year to you too.
I hardly dare think what 2026 has in store for us all but live in hope. Thanks to you and other kind Beta readers, WWII story won the Eyeland’s Book Award for an unpublished historical novel last night, which is a great encouragement.
That’s great news, about the Eyelands Award for ‘The Man’; congratulations. A very encouraging start to the New Year!
Thank you. It’s been suggested that I add more chapter breaks! What do you think?
I haven’t read ‘The Man’ for a while but I don’t remember any chapter being over long. I will have a look at it this coming week.
Wishing you the very best for 2026 also. Thanks for all of your hard work and commitment to keeping the world of Authur Ransome alive!
You are kind. Just when I feel we have covered the making of the the 1974 film pretty througherly, I find another scrapbook or photo. I’ve just come across my mother’s diary for 1973, and must look for Dad’s. We are clearing out their house, so diving deeper now. It’s terrifying.
Happy New Year Sophie 🇬🇧⛵🏴☠️
Thank you, Andrew.
Watching you last night on the S and A DVD extras. Have a grand New Year.
Wow! I looked rather tired when we recorded that, but it was a great opportunity. Let me know if you have any questions. They asked Dame Virginia rather odd ones, such as ‘Why was she cast as Mrs Walker?’ I can think of a number of reasons, but she could only explain that she had no idea.
A lovely film. And like the books, a wonderful escape. Oh, and we are picking up litter most days. Have a grand new year,
I must get down to the sea to collect flotsam after the recent storms. So much on Solent shores.
Happy New Year Sophie! I hope you and yours have a fabulous day x.
Thanks so much!
Happy New Year, Sophie!
Is your mum okay?
Joya xx
Yes, now aged 88, Mum has settled into Denville Hall, the actors’ retirement home near London.
Please see her website: Daphne Neville.com
Oh, gosh – I hope she can settle in there. It must be hard, away from her lovely lakeside home, and animal friends.
She is thriving on the activities.
Happy New Year, Sophie. Hope your mum is settling in well at Denville.
She is thriving on the company. I have become a ‘Friend’ and hope to take part in some of the events. Have you ever been?
Wonderful to hear. I haven’t been but have checked out the website. Looks like they do such amazing work. I think it’s their 100th birthday this year.
Yes, I think so.
I’ll ask about what they have planned when I visit on Wedensday.
Thanks. I’d love to know.
They usually have well known ‘names’ coming along to the fundraising events, especially the outdoor ones. Being near the M25, it is easy to get to if you drive, and not that far from Ruislip Underground Station (although you then need to take the bus.) I might volunteer to help take the residents to Kew Gardens in the summer as I long to go myself and it would be a lovely thing to do with Mum.
